St. Matt’s Catholic Youth Group

St. Matt’s Catholic Youth Group belongs to St. Matthew Parish in Rocky Mountain House, with missions at Jesuit Martyrs in Evergreen and St. Joseph the Workman in Caroline. We gather so young people can follow Jesus in ordinary life — not only hear about him.

Thursday nights are youth group for grades 7–12, 6:30 – 9:00 PM at the church. Ultimate frisbee is closed until next summer, then Mondays at 7:00 PM. Overnight retreats run at Our Lady of Victory Camp. All youth in those grades are welcome.

To register a child for youth group, fill out the child registration form. Confirmation or an adult who wants to supervise can start with the parish office.

St. Matthew Church sanctuary in Rocky Mountain House, empty wooden pews facing the altar

St. Matthew, 1926–2026

Catholic life in this district goes back to seeds planted when Father Lacombe came through in 1865. The church itself was named for St. Matthew after a 1925 gift given in memory of Rev. Matthew Whelan. Archbishop O’Leary blessed the first church on 27 August 1926. The present church was dedicated in 1976, with the first Mass on Easter Sunday 1977.

This year the parish keeps its centenary. Youth ministry belongs inside that longer story: a small foothills town teaching the faith to the next table of teenagers.
